Wired News: AI Seduces Stanford Students
Amazing artical, really facsinating about how manipulatible humans are... page 2 is particually interesting... facny seeing your face and george bush's morphed into one?
First 2 paragraphs below, read on:
Wired News: AI Seduces Stanford Students: "Psychologists and salesmen call it the 'chameleon effect': People are perceived as more honest and likeable if they subtly mimic the body language of the person they're speaking with. Now scientists have demonstrated that computers can exploit the same phenomenon, but with greater success and on a larger scale.
Researchers at Stanford University's Virtual Human Interaction Lab strapped 69 student volunteers into an immersive, 3-D virtual-reality rig, where test subjects found themselves sitting across the table from a 'digital agent' -- a computer-generated man or woman -- programmed to deliver a three-minute pitch advocating a notional university security policy requiring students to carry ID whenever they're on campus."

memories
i have just been sorting through my emails and filing them (from june 2003 till now)
its amazing when you look back over time... to see how I have gone through many paths, how I have changed and grown.
it really shocks me the relationships i have formed... and lost...
how my life aspirations have changed
life can seem so trivial at times, i am glad that i have a purpose though... often i seem to forget!
it really hurts sometimes to lose contact with people who you were once so close to... but keeping in contact is so hard (for me at least, i am terrible... especially with email)
there are so many people i miss, people that have gone overseas, interstate... but also those people that i have just lost contact with.
some of my closest friends at many times of my life i hardly know anymore, some of them i have completely lost contact with, and for others the relationships have just changed form...
well, i guess I can just say thankyou to all I am close to at the moment, I can say thankyou to my friends, peers, leaders, and especially my family who have never left me...
life is too short and too long at the same time...
but god is good and thanks jesus for always being there, for being constant... for being the friend that will always try and keep in contact with me, no matter how terrible i am on my side of the deal...
cheers,
luke
Perfect Mess
I am loving the song "
Perfect Mess" by
Airborne (rob hill's band) at the moment...
Its about america, but really its about our world when you look at the lyrics... I just love the way it sounds!!
Lyrics What a beautiful state to wake up in
It's a good day to die for a way of life
Comfortable paralysis
When the lines are blurred you follow the herd
Rapped in stars and stripes a muffled trumpet sounds
Our kids are coming home
Hey all you beautiful people say
Hurray we saved the world today
It's a better place it's a perfect mess
A guided bomb glides peacefully
Through the desert sky in the middle of the night
Gliding over sleeping families
Oh silent night oh holy war
And I kind of thought I might step onto a plane
Not in my name!
Hey all you beautiful people say
Hurray we saved the world today
It's a better place for the better race
Hey hurray we saved the world today
Why don't they appreciate it's a better place it's a perfect mess
Cheers,
Luke
Quick eye test...
Got this from claire, tis quite good...
Quick Eye TestCount the number of F's in the following text: FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS
Managed it? Scroll down only after you have counted them!
OK?
How many?
Three?
Wrong, there are six - no joke!
Read again!
FINISHED FILES ARE THE RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC STUDY COMBINED WITH THE EXPERIENCE OF YEARS
The reasoning is further down...
The brain cannot process the word "OF".
Incredible or what?
Anyone who counts all six F's on the first go is a genius Three is normal.

Heavenly Father
Heavenly Father,
Help us remember that the idiot who cut us off in traffic last night is a single mother who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with her children.
Help us to remember that the pierced, tattooed, disinterested young man who can't make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing his apprehension over final exams with his fear of not getting his student loans for next semester.
Remind us, Lord, that the scary looking bum, begging for money in the same spot every day is a slave to addictions that we can only imagine in our worst nightmares.
Help us to remember that the old couple walking annoyingly slow through the store aisles and blocking our shopping progress are savouring this moment, knowing that, based on the biopsy report she got back last week, this will be the last year that they go shopping together.
Heavenly Father, remind us each day that, of all the gifts you give us, the greatest gift is love.
It is not enough to share that love with those we hold dear.
Open our hearts not to just those who are close to us, but to all humanity.
Let us be slow to judge and quick to forgive, show patience, empathy and love.

oprah
happened to see a story today on oprah while I was helping jesse with his school work and waiting for the computer stuff to install... there was this story about this guy jim, who had gender issues and finally told his wife after 10 years of marrige, 6 years later he is a woman and his wife and him are still married with kids, they're just not intimate...
how weird would that be?
i reakon there are so many people out there with issues, and they go the wrong way about it!! how could you be a man for so long, a father for goodness sake!!
i think it is largely a choice,
it reminds me of some of the guys in some musicals i have done (who shall remain nameless) who have confessed to me that theyre gay and after a long chat have discovered they are not, and a couple have also seen god through it...
but these people need help, to be listened to, asked questions, not just told "its okay, you were born that way"
oh well, we live in a screwed up world don't we!
