After all, sometimes the best things (diamonds, car keys, Godiva truffles) come in small packages. Honest and straightforward, you're never afraid to speak up for what you believe in, especially if it's a cause near and dear to your heart. Google has indexed 170 terabytes of data, and they estimate that there is a total of 5 million terabytes of information in the world. So Google has been around for 7 years, and they've done 0.000034% of the work meaning that the other 99.999966% will be done over the next 293 years? They obviously have a lot of faith in technology. But personally I think that it will be completed way before that at the rate google is going, I would not give it even 40 years.
Cheers,
Luke

The Guys' Rules

Tis great...Pete B sent it to me:

At last a guy has taken the time to write this all down. Finally the guys' side of the story. (I must admit, it's pretty good.)

We always hear "the rules” from the female side. Now here are the rules from the male side.

These are our rules!

Please note... these are all numbered “1” ON PURPOSE!

1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.

1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be.

1. Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way.

1. Crying is blackmail.

1. Ask for what you want. Let us be clear on this one: Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work… Just say it!

1. Yes and No are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every question.

1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

1. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor.

1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days.

1. If you won't dress like the Victoria's Secret girls, don't expect us to act like soap opera guys.

1. If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.

1. If something we said can be interpreted two ways and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.

1. You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.

1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during commercials.

1. Christopher Columbus did not need directions and neither do we.

1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.

1. If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that.

1. If we ask what is wrong and you say “nothing”, we will act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.

1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear.

1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine...Really.

1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball, the shotgun formation, or monster trucks.

1. You have enough clothes.

1. You have too many shoes.

1. I am in shape. Round is a shape.

Thank you for reading this. Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the couch tonight; but did you know men really don't mind that? It's like camping.

Pass this to as many men as you can - to give them a laugh.

Pass this to as many women as you can - to give them a bigger laugh!

The laptop for kids - Technology - smh.com.au

The laptop for kids - Technology - smh.com.au
Facsinating read, its great

"Stay Hungry... No one yanks the hammer out of His hand and says, 'Go easy on that silver; you have pounded it enough!' No, He buffets the metal until He's finished with it. Dan Goodin (the writer) explains some of the lengths he’s gone to in order to achieve random bliss - going so far as to touch on Real Player, MusicMatch, Winamp, and concludes with iTunes. He even tried running a playlist through randomizing algorithms in different music players…talk about dedication.

It gets interesting when he speaks with a mathematician (Jeff Lait, creator of randomm3u) who explains the real problem. It’s all in our head. The fact is, that algorithms can make a list completely randomized - but that resulting random list may not fit with what we EXPECT out of that randomization. Interesting, but makes sense.

Dan concludes that iTunes is the current leader of Randomization however. Why? (Those of you answering, “Because it’s Apple!” would be wrong. Mostly.) Because Apple (ok, you were partially correct) was insightful enough to include Smart Playlists. I have been sick and thus unable to train or sleep properly... it has been a bit of a trial, I have been feeling low about beeing sick and unable to do things.

Last weeks soul team was very good, so encouraging, God is AMAZING!! This week I have been learning so much more about how when I am weak God is strong and how I need to rely on him not on myself.

I have been really stirred up on the inside, re-learning love, how undeserved, how wonderful, and what it means for me to love others and how love is so not what hollywood makes it out to be.

I had a great walk on the beach yesterday and I have been doing some thinking, and now it is time to put those thoughts into action... however hard it is! And we had to row the boat over the line with 3 of us. We barely spoke a word, it was really disappointing.

The blue ribbon event, the Youth Mens Coxed Eight, was the hardest race of my life, we went so hard, but every time we made a push so did WA and we finished in second by a very small margin. I found out later that we were rating 6 points lower than them (6x6min = 36 strokes = 300 odd meters), after knowing that I am way more than happy with our result, I am impressed!
Well, 2 silvers, I am happy with that, but next time it has to be better!

Result: I shall train harder!

The people were awesome, the food was great (I weighed in a 1.532kg under, and thus could eat as much as I wanted!) lots of fun, lots of waiting, lots of spending all my energy.
Well, now I am back at training and it hurts, but its worth it! Guess what!

I'm doing the World Vision 40 Hour Famine. (to sponsor me go to: https://famine.worldvision.com.au/famine.cgi?a=SPONSOR_&pn=25028013-8)

Last weekend I went without food for 40 hours to raise money to help feed hungry kids.

Just $40 will help feed 6 children in Africa for a whole month. To find out more about how the funds raised are going to be used click on http://www.worldvision.com.au/40HourFamine/about_money.asp.

Could you please support me by giving a donation?

If you can, simply visit the World Vision 40 Hour Famine website (http://www.40hourfamine.com.au) and click on Donate Here. Donations are tax deductible and the minimum amount is $2. You will receive a receipt as soon as you've made the donation.

When it asks you for the Famine Number, enter 25028013-8. This makes sure that the donation is recorded against me and that I'm sent a record of your donation.

(You can also go directly to the donate screen by clicking here (https://famine.worldvision.com.au/famine.cgi?a=SPONSOR_&pn=25028013-8).

Thank you very much!

Cheers,
Luke Freeman
lukewise@gmail.com

Fruity

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control...
Galatians 5:22-23

Its been really on my mind lately... I am feeling convicted to be so much more aware of them, especially goodness (holiness) and self-control.
Never while living on this earth will I be able to complete these goals, but each step closer I can get the better it will be, it won't make life any easier (many times it will make it harder), it won't neccessarily make me happier (hopefully more joyful though), it won't make me more popular (more often than not the reverse) and there are many things which many people would argue make these goals hopless.

But when it comes down to it, I want to be the best person I can be (the one I was created to be), I want to be able to pass good morals onto my own kids one day and also onto those around me, I want to keep myself pure and as Phil said on camp, (something along the lines of) "being the holiest person we can be for our [future] spouse so that we can encourage them to become closer to christ".

I have no idea what God has in mind for my future, I do not know where I will be in 1 year, in a couple of months, let alone in several years. But what I do know is that I have confidence that he does have those plans (to prosper me!), and thats exciting!!!

I am excited to see the plans unfold, for the wife he has prepared for me to spend my life with, what he indends for me to spend my time on, the kids that he has already created, the people I am going to meet, the brothers and sisters I will be mutually encouraged by, those I will mentor, and all those things, all those proud moments in my life.

But I am also excited to see the pain, the hard times, the lonely times, the darkness, those who will hurt me, those who I will hurt, those who I will miss, the times I will fail. Why? Because thats what will form my character, thats what will form who I am created to be.

This post is getting long, I better finish up (and get back to my assignment).
Cheers,
Luke

Thank God for food

"....my hobby is sleep and my life revolves around food..."
Luke Freeman, Kids Club Camp

Well, I am finished the 40 hour famine and it was particularily hard this year for some reason, I just felt really faint... type='text'>"Peanuts" Philosophy

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read them straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America.

4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress.

6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Acheivements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Easier?

The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

Pass this on to those people who have made a difference in your life. "Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia." (Charles Schultz)

"In the Land of the Blind, the One-Eyed Man is King"

film: a cinematic experience (for lack of a better title)

hey,
luke here,

from the makers of such block busters as The Matwix Resolutions,
Cooking like Compost and Road Safety
comes A Day in the Life of Ted and Mary (title
yet to be final) (action/comedy) (story: Peter Hayes).

you have been invited to be involved in its production, please send me
a email if you are interested...especially
those interested in pre-production input... type='text'>memories

i have just been sorting through my emails and filing them (from june 2003 till now)

its amazing when you look back over time... to see how I have gone through many paths, how I have changed and grown.

it really shocks me the relationships i have formed... and lost...

how my life aspirations have changed

life can seem so trivial at times, i am glad that i have a purpose though... often i seem to forget!

it really hurts sometimes to lose contact with people who you were once so close to... but keeping in contact is so hard (for me at least, i am terrible... especially with email)

there are so many people i miss, people that have gone overseas, interstate... but also those people that i have just lost contact with.

some of my closest friends at many times of my life i hardly know anymore, some of them i have completely lost contact with, and for others the relationships have just changed form...

well, i guess I can just say thankyou to all I am close to at the moment, I can say thankyou to my friends, peers, leaders, and especially my family who have never left me...

life is too short and too long at the same time...

but god is good and thanks jesus for always being there, for being constant... for being the friend that will always try and keep in contact with me, no matter how terrible i am on my side of the deal...

cheers,
luke
<img width='1' height='1'
